INFORMATION

All of the photographs on this website were taken on Pentax cameras; the earlier ones using a Pentax Super A, followed by a Pentax LX and since January 2007 I have "gone digital" with a K10D. Lenses include a variety of manual-focus primes, ranging from 24 to 135 mm focal length, in addition to the 18-55 mm lens that comes with the K10D and a Sigma 70 mm macro lens. For most of the close-ups I have used extension tubes, the macro end of the 70 mm lens, or on occasion, the 50 mm stacked on the end of the 135 mm lens. In the film cameras I was generally using Fuji Sensia II, Velvia or Kodachrome 64. The slides were then scanned on a Konica Minolta DualScan IV film scanner.

To save an awful lot of time at the computer, I have used JAlbum to build the gallery pages, using a skin that I designed myself.

I first got interested in photgraphy when I was given a little Russian camera (I can't remember what exactly) for my birthday (I think I must have been about 9 years old), which I used for quite a few years before moving on to an old Kodak Retina IIIC. It was a nice little camera with a door on the front which you opened to pull out the lens, all very mechanical, and required using a handheld light meter. All of which no doubt taught me lots about taking photos that a point-and-press camera wouldn't have done (with lots of guidance from my dad, of course!).

I enjoy being outside in nice places, particularly in the hills. I'm also into plants. Consequently most of my photos are of landscapes and plants (or close-ups of other things).
